MOYLAN ANNOUNCES RUN FOR OPEN CIRCUIT JUDGE SEAT
TREASURE COAST, FLORIDA- MARCH 17, 2016: Today, Kiernan Patrick Moylan announced his candidacy for 19th Judicial Circuit Court Group 6 Judge.
In announcing his intention to run, Moylan said, “I seek to become a judge to continue my work in public service, which has always been the goal in my career. I believe the role of a judge is to precisely and fairly interpret the law and not to make new law. While on the bench, I will do my best to uphold this maxim.” He continued, “Furthermore, as the father of three, I am truly motivated to make our community a better place to raise our children. I see the opportunity presented by this vacancy on the bench as a way for me to help strengthen our district and make it a better place to live and work. I firmly believe our government was founded to protect our inalienable rights and not to tread on them. If elected to the bench, that is my commitment.”
A long time public servant, he has worked in the court system of the 19th Circuit, as an Assistant Public Defender for the past five years. Moylan also served for more than three years as an Assistant Attorney General under Generals McCollum and Bondi, as a civil litigator, handling matters ranging from defending federal and state civil rights claims and torts to appeals of denied petitions for government benefits to constitutional questions as well as seizures/forfeitures for different law enforcement agencies. Before attending law school at the University of Miami, he worked for four years for the Seventh Congressional District of Florida in Washington DC.
Additionally, Moylan served as a Vice President and In-house Counsel during his eight years with the 2nd largest privately held company in Florida.
He and his wife, Kristina, have three children, Liam (9), Seamus (8) and Sloane (4).
